A national hotline for victims of domestic violence 8-801-100-8-801 has been operating at the base since August 13, 2012. The hotline offers psychological, legal and social consultations daily from 8 to 20 hours free of charge, anonymously and confidentially. For all actions in Belarus, the national hotline for victims of domestic violence is 13.8 thousand (data as of April 1, 2020).

In November 2019, on the website of the Gender Perspectives International Public Organization www.genderperspectives.by and in the Telegram messenger a chatbot was launched - a new service for victims From domestic crimes and witnesses of this offense, allowing you to get help on the possibilities of receiving psychological, legal and social assistance. The chat contains the addresses and phone numbers of both state and public organizations working on domestic violence problems, provides users with operational information about the possibilities of receiving various kinds of assistance, including emergency, in finding a shelter or a crisis room. This service is also intended for use by professionals working with the problem of domestic violence.
Another important area of ​​activity of the IPO "Gender Perspectives" is the holding of thematic seminars and trainings for specialists who carry out preventive work or provide direct services to victims of domestic violence. Specialists in this category are psychologists, specialists in social work, specialists in social protection, specialists in internal affairs systems, specialists in education systems and other organizations and structures.
IPO "Gender Perspectives" takes an active part in the development of legislation in the field of preventing domestic violence. Based on many years of practical experience, the organization prepared recommendations “What should be contained in the Law on the Prevention of Violence in Belarus”. Also, in cooperation with partner women's organizations, principles were established, taking into account which the draft law should be developed.

Specialists of the International Public Organization "Gender Perspectives" are part of the working group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus to improve legislation in the field of combating domestic violence in accordance with the requirements and standards.

IOO "Gender Perspectives" actively interacts with the media, prepares various information materials: booklets, brochures, other possible problems of domestic violence in Belarus. manuals, catalogs, as well as video materials.

Since 2012, the organization has been a representative of the European WAVE Network “Women Against Violence in Europe”. We actively study international experience and share our own, take part in the annual reports of the network and in the annual conference.

Results


The nationwide hotline for victims of domestic violence 8-801-100-8-801, administered by the "Gender Perspectives" NGO, has received & nbsp; almost 15 thousand calls (data as of October 1, 2020).

This highly demanded help service was launched on August 13, 2012. Today & nbsp; hotline & nbsp; psychological, legal and social information support every day without days off from 8.00 to 20.00.

Mostly the nationwide line is accessed by & nbsp; victims of domestic violence (80%), as well as their relatives, friends (18%). & Nbsp; Most of the victims (94%) are women, 6% are men (mostly elderly, experiencing violence from the side of adult children).
The perpetrators of violence, according to the hotline, are men in 88%. The majority of victims of violence are in the age group of 27-40 years old - 42%, are married or in a regular relationship (48%), have 1-2 children (81%) and suffer from violence by their spouse (50%), intimate partner ( 6%), ex-spouse (15%).
